Skills Coach Nick Bootland

Nick is in his first season as the assistant coach with the Hershey Bears in the AHL.  Prior to that he spent 11 seasons as head coach and director of hockey operations for Kalamazoo having been named to the position on May 29, 2008. He has led the K-Wings to the North Division title in four of their nine seasons in ECHL and to seven appearances in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. In 2011-12, the K-Wings advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals one year after an appearance in the Kelly Cup Finals. He enters the 2018-19 season tied for seventh in ECHL history with 648 games coached and tied for eighth with 342 career regular-season wins.

He played four seasons for Kalamazoo, including the last three years of his career from 2005-08. He led the league his last season with 46 goals and 19 power-play goals while finishing tied for third with 82 points in 73 games. Bootland was named the MVP of the playoffs in 2006 when he had 10 goals and 16 points in 13 games to help the K-Wings capture their first championship in 26 years.

Selected in the ninth round (220th overall) by Dallas in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, he played seven seasons in the American Hockey League with Cleveland and Hershey and had 58 points (23g-35a) and 365 penalty minutes in 258 regular season games and seven points (3g-4a) and 43 penalty minutes in 23 playoff games.

Pro Power Skating Coach Marcie Kierpiec

Marcie is a Pro Power Skating Coach with a massive pedigree.  She is a Level 4 certified coach with USA Hockey and has 36 years of coaching experience.  Marci is the lead skating instructor for the Michigan High School Hockey Excellence Program and was the On-ice skating instructor for U18 Compuware AAA team, U16 Compuware AAA team and U14 Honey Baked AAA team (seasons 2016-2019).  She holds a Degree in Exercise Science with a focus on Strength and Conditioning which included an internship (Fall 2016) with USA Hockey’s NTDP where she worked with both the U18 and U17 teams during their off-ice training sessions, as well as, on ice with the U17 team by assisting their regular power skating instructor.

This Camp is reserved for Older / High Level players.  Must be 15 years of age or older, playing High School, AAA, Jr, College or Pro to register. 

2024 Camp Dates & Details:

Length: 10 Weeks – 3 Days per week

Start Date: Monday, June 10th, 2024

End Date: Thursday, August 15th, 2024

Location: Wings West (5076 Sports Drive, Kalamazoo)

Camp is LIMITED to 24 skaters PER group

Pro Group 1: 11:30 – 12:30 PM (Skills with Coach Bootland) Monday, (Power skating with Coach KierPiec) Wednesday, (Mini Games/Competition with Coach Bootland) Thursday

Pro Group 2: 12:45 – 1:45 PM (Skills with Coach Bootland) Monday, (Power skating with Coach KierPiec) Wednesday, (Mini Games/Competition with Coach Bootland) Thursday
